African Americans and Women in the US IP Economy

African Americans as well as women can make significant contributions to the innovation economy. However, intellectual property (IP) remains “stubbornly difficult” for them and other underrepresented groups to access. This paper briefly explores some of the historical and structural challenges that African Americans and women have faced in accessing and participating in the IP system. But more importantly, the paper focuses on the work that is - and can be done to reduce the racial and gender gaps in IP.

Beginning in 2023, Cybaris will begin presenting Legislative Reports prepared by guest contributors and our Board of Editors to provide an analysis of recently-passed IP legislation.
Blog and Notes contain short articles and blog posts written by the Cybaris Board of Editors and guest bloggers covering current and emerging IP news and topics.
Submissions for publication
The Cybaris Board of Editors only accept electronic submissions of articles via Scholastica or email. Microsoft Word format is preferred. Citations in all manuscripts should conform to the most recent edition of The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation.
Cybaris also welcomes blog post submissions (600-1200 words). The Cybaris Board of Editors reviews and responds to all submissions within ten (10) business days.
